SOME HELPFUL HINTS ON EVALUATION:...

Evaluation

Dear Colleagues:

We were granted a PDIGrant in 2006 in order to work on some evaluation models to help us in the classroom. This project addresses the daily challenges of evaluating a high volume of students by creating models which combine evaluation and learning, respect time and class size constraints, and include self and peer evaluations which incorporate enjoyment and positive outcomes as criteria. Here is the result of our work.

Varied forms of evaluation are included: General (which includes Orff, Dalcroze, rhythm and voice), Instrumental (which includes band, djembe, hand bells, recorder, and ukulele), student led evaluations (which includes self and peer-evaluations as well as some behavioral models), summative evaluations, music appreciation models, special projects, and some blank grids for you to create your own. Also, wherever possible, we have placed evaluative models within their respective cycles, have provided some translations into French, and have cross-categorized models. Please note that this project did not involve evaluation models for music theory.

Most models are at your disposal in two formats: One is in Adobe Acrobat
© Reader, which you cannot change, and the other is in Microsoft Word®; these you can download and change what you want to fit your needs after saving them to your own computer.

PLEASE NOTE: These models are copy-written but may be used by individual teachers within a school. THEY ARE NOT FOR RESALE.

We hope this makes your lives a little easier!

Your PDIG committee.
